Antonini published a successful Italian grammar in 1726 in Paris, and an Italian dictionary in 1735. This is the very scarce first French abridged edition, with Latin and Italian entries. In two volumes, printed in treble columns. Part I is Italian to French, and Part II French to Italian. The Latin is subsidiary. Lacking the frontispiece to volume I. With the armorial bookplate of F. Hutcheson M.D. to each front pastedown, and his inscription to a front blank of volume I, and to the title page of volume I. A very scarce work from the Italian philologist, grammarian, lexicographer and translator. CONDITION In full calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strips. Light rubbing to back strip heads and tails and joints. Volume II lacking volume number spine label. Head of front joint of volume I starting, with board holding firm. Rear hinge of volume II strained but firmly held. Bookplates to front pastedowns, with inscription to front blank and title page of volume I. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned due to paper type, but generally clean and bright. Volume I lacking frontispiece.
