Published in the same year as the third London edition. First published in 1758, the first portion of Fairfax's work is dedicated to cock-fighting, with further chapters devoted to racing, angling, shooting, hunting, and further equestrian activities. Bound without the title page, frontispiece, and half title. Dated from pagination and two leaves of publisher's advertisements to the rear. ESTC reference no. N28311 A scarce edition of an important early work on country sports. CONDITION In a full calf binding. Loss of leather to back strip head and tail, with rubbing to joints and board perimeters, resulting to losses of leather. Front and rear joints starting, with boards holding firm. Endpapers, half title, frontispiece and title page all lacking. Pages age toned, with scattered light spotting and an ink mark to final leaf, K8.
