The seventh edition of this popular work. Illustrated with a frontispiece to each volume. Thomas Day's incredibly popular children's book, a series of stories which tell the history of Sandford and Merton. This wildly successful work was first published in 1783, and remained in print for over one-hundred years. Day approaches education with Rousseauian ideals, following a spoilt but noble boy and his poor but virtuous friend. 'History' is not a typical history of a textbook, but rather a collection of stories from a multitude of sources, exploring the history of the areas through the reformation of a spoilt young boy named Tommy Merton, and the yeoman farmer's song Harry Sandford. Three pages of adverts to the rear of Volume III. Collated, complete. CONDITION In a rebacked calf binding. Externally, generally smart. Light bumping to the extremities. Light marks and rubbing to the original boards. Evidence of former wear, heavier to the rear boards of Volumes I and III, and front board of Volume II, prior to rebacking. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very lightly age-toned and clean, with a few scattered spots. Very speedy delivery and extremely well packaged. The book is in wonderful condition for age, better I think than described. This now sits alongside a companion volume, another work of Worcestershire historian and antiquarian, John Noak. I very much looking forward to reading it. As for price, I snatched the offer and am extremely pleased that I did. This seller is a perfect find on eBay and I would purchase from them without hesitation, saved seller, excellent.

Thank you so much, Katherine, for a truly pluperfect transaction.
