Scott was the only child of Antarctic explorer Sir Robert Falcon Scott. Former owner's inscription of David Black to front free endpaper. A beautifully illustrated late eighteenth century guide to Edinburgh. CONDITION In a full tree calf binding. Rubbing to back strip head and tail, joints and board perimeters, resulting in small losses to the leather. Front joint, and head of rear joint, starting, with boards holding firm. Bookplate to front pastedown. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned, but clean.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
