Illustrated with nine plates, including six tinted chromolithographs, from photographs by Herbert Watkins. Collated, complete. Published simultaneously under this title, and the title 'The Ladies' Equestrian Guide'. Mrs. J. Stirling Clarke offers a delightful instructional work, 'exclusively for the guidance of my own sex', for the aspiring female equestrian. Chapters include the gallop, trot, hunting, the position of the hands, and 'the lady's saddle and bridle'. From the Ascott House library, owned by the de Rothschild family. The library was created following the conversion of the billiards room in 1936 and was predominantly filled with books collected by Anthony de Rothschild. CONDITION In a half crushed morocco signed binding, with cloth covered boards. Externally, fine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd spot. Spotting more concentrated to plate perimeters. Plates retaining original tissue guards.
