Wonderfully bound by the French binder, Bespierres, in full morocco with intricate gilt tooling, dentelles and a bright emblem to the front cover. Very scarce work. This insightful travel work was written by art historian and travel writer, M. Auguste Demmin, also a prominent collector of his time. 'Souvenirs de Voyage' is an artistic guide for Germany, told from the point of view of an art collector. The author details different regions of Germany, presenting various art forms and where they will be found, from paintings to ceramics. Written in French. Bookplate of 'Dum Spiro Spero' to the front endpaper, which translates to 'While I breathe, I hope'. CONDITION Bound in full morocco with gilt detailing. Externally, excellent, with light rubbing to the extremities. Bookplate and binders label to the verso of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with light scattered spotting in places. A little offsetting from bookplate and label.
