Externally smart, with fading to the spine and rubbing to the joints and extremities. Hinges have been reinforced. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with spotting to the fore edge, affecting the occasional page.     I bought this for the copy's associations with a family I'm interested in, thanks to the suggestions about provenance in the seller's description. The description and photos told me all I needed to know about the book - clearly the right family, though I have my own view on the individual who owned it - but that is part of the fund of an old book. It arrived promptly - a couple of days' delay caused by UPS - safely packaged and a good price, I think.
