Yorick as the narrator. 2 Volume set complete. Dual language edition. The book is a novel, but inspired by the author's own travels in 1765. The original publication was in 1768 and it proved very popular. Published by Anthony Henricy, Aix, France, 1796. New edition. A good set of two full mottled calf leather hardbacks. Covers bumped and worn to extremities with some leather loss at the head of the spine on Volume II. Spines with gilt tooling and morocco title labels. Outer joints are worn and a little weakened, but all still bound. Vol II has marbled endpapers at the front, with all others blank. Small owner's inscription to top edge of rear pastedown of Vol II. Text is generally clean and easily legible with some areas of discoloration and light staining (mostly marginal), but overall a good set of this uncommon 18th Century dual language version of this title. Language: English and French. Vol I: 259pp; Vol II: 335pp. Dimensions: each volume approximately 141mm high x 91mm wide x 20-27mm deep. Unpacked weight approximately 356g (the set - unpacked). This is a beautiful set that's 250 y/o & is in great condition; it surpassed expectations. The shipping was surprisingly quick. However, probably the most amazing thing was that these 8 books were so well packed, in such reinforced cardboard, individually bubble wrapped, that I swear, if you dropped that box off a 3 story building, I doubt a single corner would even get dinged. This went from the UK to the US, mind you. This dealer's a pro and you can feel safe when you buy from Farang Shop UK!
