Description

Arthur Train, Formerly Assistant District Attorney for New York County, District Attorney Series, 5 Volumes; The Confessions of Artemas Quibble, 1911 Illustrated. Train was the former assistant district attorney in New York City. His interactions with clients, together with his experiences in the courtroom, provided the material for the more than 250 short stories and novels he would write during his lifetime. Being the ingenuous and unvarnished history of Artemas Quibble, Esquire, one-time practitioner in the New York Criminal Courts, together with an account of the divers wiles, tricks, sophistries, technicalities, and sundry artifices of himself and others of the fraternity, commonly except Shysters or Shyster Lawyers as edited by Train. True Stories of Crime, 1908 True Stories of Crime from the District Attorney's Office by Arthur Cheney Train 3.06 · 178 Ratings · 7 Reviews · published 1908 · 89 editions The scenes recorded here are not literature but history, and the characters who figure in them are not puppets of the imagination, but men and women who lived and schemed, laughed, sinned and suffered, and paid the price when the time came, most of them, without flinching. A few of those who read these pages may profit perhaps by their example; others may gain somewhat in their knowledge of life and human nature; but all will agree that there are books in the running brooks, even if the streams be turbid, and sermons in stones, though these be the hearts of men. If in some instances the narratives savor in treatment more of fiction than of fact, the writer must plead guilty to having fallen under the spell of the romance of his subject, and he proffers the excuse that, whereas such tales have lost nothing in accuracy, they may have gained in the truth of their final impression. The shipping was really fast and came four days earlier than expected. The seller was very responsive and agreed to an offer I made. That was really awesome. I got a pretty good price. The books were in worse shape than I realized. The item listing was kind of not true. There were also no pictures of some of the bad places of the books. I got it for a good price though, so you get what you pay for. Overall a pretty good seller, not the best, but pretty good.

I opened my package and found more than I ordered. There were 4 books on tape and some guitar dvd I knew I didn't order and thought they messed up. So I was going through to see what I needed to send back and find a more from Mr and Mrs Martin, said I bought so much, they sent me the rest of their inventory. I am very humble they chose me. Thank you. AAA+++ EBAYER
