Rare early Philadelphia imprint on astronomy with an important autograph and also an association copy with a prominent American astronomer. Book in fair condition overall. by John Gummere, p: Kimber & Sharpless 1837 373 pp., + 104 pp. astronomical tables, +7 fold out plates. This being a presentation copy with an 1841 handwriiten inscription signed by Rev. Jeremiah Day (1173-1867) 9th President of Yale University in office 1817-1846 to Joseph Stillman Hubbard (1823-1863) astronomer . Covers rubbed and worn with front fold separating, foxed mostly front and rear sections including plates, with some scattered foxing throughout, toning to eps and facing pages. This is a gorgeous vibrantly colored tall medium sized piece & its condition was as described by seller. I love it! The packaging was extraordinary in detail to protect it as shipping porcelain can be tricky/costly. S&H fees are climbing & I can understand the cost BUT this sellers were VERY reasonable. They were also very accommodating & communicated several times w/me on shipping & pricing so I could stay on budget. I recommend this seller & have added them to my favorites list. Thank you.
