Lammertyn (Redemptoriste), published simulateously in France and Belgium by Chez Mme Gernaey and Convent des Redemptorists, 1 st edition of 20,000 only, published in 1931 with full Catholic approbations in the same year, made in France. 6 1/4 by 4 5/8” in ribbed deckled flexible black leather, with gilded title on the spine face, red edged page block, one red silk marker ribbon, decorative end papers front and back inside covers, 750 pages plus advertisement in the back, with sepia toned illustrations as frontispiece and throughout the text in full page layout. Completely in French, this is a series of Holy Hours taken from the writings of respected French religious writers, based on the sufferings of Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane before His Passion and Death. The book is filled with beautiful and emotional sepia toned illustrations, some of the present day grotto of Gethsemane in the Holy Land. Condition of the prayer book graded Almost Fine; there is a very light bit of cover wear, interior text is fresh, clean and unmarked, one small tear at bottom of frontispiece illustration page only (see photo #1)- a collectible French prayer book from the Redemptorist Order and a collectible book.
